Lucas Garber joined Alexander Ricks as an Associate in 2016 and his practice focuses on general business, commercial, and intellectual property litigation.

Prior to joining the firm, Lucas was an associate at Hedrick Gardner Kincheloe & Garofalo, LLP.  Lucas has experience defending clients for claims involving breach of contract, breach of warranty, unfair and deceptive trade practices, products liability, and premises liability lawsuits. He has obtained significant litigation experience, including participation in jury and bench trials to verdict in North Carolina Superior Court, arguing and drafting briefs for dispositive motions, representing clients in arbitration and mediation proceedings, and conducting depositions. While in law school, he clerked for the Honorable Frank Whitney, United States Chief District Court Judge for the Western District of North Carolina.

Lucas is native Charlottean and has significant ties to the local community. He attended the University of South Carolina for his undergraduate studies where he majored in Corporate Finance and graduated magna cum laude.  After his undergraduate studies, Lucas graduated from Wake Forest University School of Law.

Representative Matters

• Participated in bench trial to complete defense verdict representing a commercial landlord in lawsuit alleging unfair and deceptive trade practices.

• Participated in jury trial to complete defense verdict of claims against client for breach of contract and negligence arising out of the upfit and renovation of a PGA Tour Bus.

• Assisted in drafting trial, appellate, and superior court briefs supporting the successful dismissal of a university in a wrongful death lawsuit.

• Obtained judgment lien based on the breach of promissory note for a former NASCAR driver.
